Xenlusan

The Black Dragon

He/Him - Demisexual, Panromantic

Dark Xen is the "evil" variant of Xenlusan, and is more of an alter ego than a separate character to Light Xen. He is a dragon with the ability to change his human form at will. He typically maintains a consistent human form unless otherwise specified. His primary defining features which separate him from other variants are the way he treats others, and his lack of a tail-blade.

Height: 5'8" Age ~15, visually

Eyes: Left is red, the right eye is blue.

Xen's blue eye does turn red when he gets hungry, as that's more of the vampire trait.

Outfits:

Xen's main outfit is a black t-shirt with gray/silver dragon wings on the back, darker blue jeans with a tear on the right knee, black shoes with black and silver laces.

Xen's secondary outfit is what he's drawn wearing in the art shown. I tried to make him look more like he was living in a palace with higher standards of living.

Generally, things that are black, grey, or silver, with a dragon motif, are seen as acceptable within Xen's style. Secondary or hightlight colors being purple, or red and blue together, leaning more red.

Personality

I'm Xen.

Xen is generally distant or aggressive. When he doesn't keep to himself, he likes trying to scare others or get under their skin somehow. He enjoys the violence and chaos that he causes.

Hunger - Xen will eat as he pleases, without hesitation. He drags out the harm of anyone who's friends with Light Xen, to make Light Xen feel worse about losing control.

Violins - When Xen hears the sound of a violin being played and he's not doing anything else, and no one else is around to see him, he stops everything else will just sit and listen until the music stops or he can no longer hear it.

Abilities

Healing

Xenlusan can heal from most injuries quickly. The more he needs to heal, the hungrier he gets. The more well-fed he is, the faster he heals. Xen must feed on meat and/or blood in order to help trigger his healing. Plant-based foods don't seem to make a difference.

Headshots - Injuries to the head heal just fine. However, even a normal strike to the back of the head will cause Xen to forget his more recent memories. There is a perpetual hole in the back of his head that never heals. Brain destruction like that caused from bullets doesn't worsen this amnesia either.

Wings - While it seems Xen's wings heal just fine, Xen seems to treat the point of connection to his back with great care, as if they don't.

Insta-kills - Any physical damage to the heart will immediately cause Xen to die. When he does die, after about a day, whatever's left of his heart will becomes a dragon egg, and the rest of his body left out will disappear. Decapitation inflicted with direct contact (no tools or weapons used) will also kill Xen. His skull will remain, never to decay or break down of its own accord.

Heightened Senses

Xen is Vampire Dragon. In his human form, he's comparable to a vampire. He has a higher senses overall. He has the tendency to use his keen sense of smell to find things at greater distances.

Dragon Form

Xenlusan can shift into a dragon at will, but doesn't do so often. The sword he used to carry is his tail-blade. Xen's dragon form is basically fireproof, and has a greater defense against cutting and piercing. His fangs, claws, and tail-blade become sharper when he's well fed, and dull when he goes hungry for longer periods of time.

Shapeshifter

Xen has an ability unique to him among his kind, in that, he can alter the appearance of his human form. He can shapeshift only the aspects that remain in a human shape. It's this power that is the reason he could take Zen's physical appearance as his own.

Rebirth

When Xen is killed via damage to his heart, his soul lingers around. The egg that forms from his heart has the potential to be reborn as him if specific conditions are met. These conditions are 1) The egg must be bloodied, and 2) it must be named "Dex". If these conditions are not met, Xen's soul moves on, and the egg is hatched as its own entity.

SP

Due to Xen's connection with SP, and SP's previous connection to Winter, Xen can access some of Winter's abilities such as creating portals, and transforming objects.

Backstory

Egg and Hatching

The egg born to the dragon and the vampire was cold. The dragon mother had died in childbirth/egg laying. So, the father took the egg, and began to slaughter as many people and creatures as he could, using their souls to bring the egg back to life. His soul was the last to be added before the egg was warmed.

Those of great spiritual power sensed the greatness in the egg. Whatever came of it would be dangerous, so they tossed it into a chasm, sending it to another world.

The egg landed in a world of other dragons, so when the egg did hatch, the child adapted to this world. It wasn't perfect, but it was passable.

The Dragon World

The hatchling had to adjust the the dragon world it was born in. It landed in the Vampire Dragon sector of the world. Vampire Dragons are a cannibalistic breed. The hatchling was a runt that had to scavenge. Bloodthirst kept them alive. The more they feed, the stronger they are. All the dragons know this, and there is no shame in consuming those closest to you in order to survive.

The Dream Castle

Adoption - At a point, while testing their powers, a couple of residents of the Dream Castle accidentally open a portal to the Dragon World, causing the unnamed runt to fall through to this other world. Unable to calm the startled dragon, they just lock it in a closet for a while. Eventually, a proper dragon, The Prince of Death freed the runt. The runt is adopted and given the name Dex. It seems the Prince of Death adopted others, giving two other dragons titles by association: The King of Death and The Blood Princess

Xenlusan - One day, Dex came across Xenlusan, the original. Zenrusan was dying, but with his last moments alive, he told Dex that the small dragon was allowed to use his form and name after he died. Dex could now disguise himself as Xen, and do as he'd like with it. He decided to be a spy on Shikoku and the others as "Bale's Xen". After some time living this double life, he also collects SP and gains some of Winter's powers through it.

The Silver World

One day, Dex was testing out his new powers, and accidentally fell into The Silver World. He caused a problem, and, in trying to fix it, he got tangled up in that world's plot. Light Xen began to suppress his hunger and violent impulses even moreso in this world. For some reason, he considered his very existence to be some sort of evil. It is not evil that carnivores need to eat. Light Xen tried to separate himself from what he was, and this split was greatly exacerbated by dark magic, which created Dark Xen. This world is where Xen considers home, and is generally the point in time where Dark Xen is pulled from to be used.

The Halls of the Library

Later in Xen's life within The Silver World, he was brought to a strange place outside of time as they knew it. Here, there were odd interactions with those beyond the bounds of their own worlds. This is where Xen was formally split, creating Skxen, Sen, and K-Xen. Being in a separate body from Light Xen made it all the more fun to torment him.

Relationships

Family

Dezayne/Winter - Dezayne is the oldest and strongest of the batch of siblings. On his own, he took the skulls of the old King of Death and even Death itself for the Dragon World. He was the best leader the Vampire Dragons had for a while.

Zachary - Zachary is the current leader of the Vampire Dragons. Dezayne handed the crown and skull of the previous king to Zachary, making him the King of Death. He makes his family proud.

Ruby - Ruby is the Blood Princess, by virtue of being the sister to the current King of Death and Prince of Death. While she holds no skull of her own, she is just as deserving of respect as her brothers. They make sure she isn't disrespected by any of their own people.

Super Close Characters

Nira - Nira is the first person in The Silver World to not treat him differently because of his Vampiric Elements. After some growing closer across the story of The Silver Princess, Nira and Xen become a couple. Nira does eventually die after a long happy life with Xen.

Esil - After Xen's new revival, he is placed in the care of Esil. Xen regrows alongside Esil. They're extremely close friends. The love is familial. While the rest of the world reveres Xen for being a dragon, Esil doesn't treat Xen with too much veneration. Xen likely finds this to be a relief.

Other noteworthy connections

Slendie - Aleah was the very first who didn't seem to be put off by his violent tendencies. She took the time to actually get to know him, and be more gentle with him. Dark Xen considers her the most important person to him, even gifting away his sword to her. Having willingly given it up, his healing ability doesn't grow the tail-blade back.

OOC information

  • Xenlusan comes from the morphemes Xen, lun, sang. So Xenlusan's name technically means "Strange Moon Blood".
  • I designed Xen in about 6th grade, so, when I was roughly 11 years old.
  • Aleah is the OC of a friend. There was a lot of interaction between OCs of my online friends for a while.
