The Dragon

He/Him - Demisexual, Panromantic

Twisted Xen is the Creepypasta/Horror variant of Xenlusan. He is a dragon with the ability to change his human form at will. He typically maintains a consistent human form unless otherwise specified though. His primary defining features which separate him from other variants all have something to do with the magical head injury that he's sustained. This injury causes a magical amnesia and issues with controlling his dragon elements.

Height: 5'8" Age ~15, visually

Eyes: Left is red with a patch of scales, the right eye is blue.

The scales around Xen's left eye persist through his shifted forms. He's able to remove them, but it requires more focus than he can consistently use. This patch of scales also grows and spreads when he is hungry. It's another side effect of his head injury. The more black scales he shows in his human form, the hungrier he is.

Outfits:

Xen's main outfit is a black t-shirt with gray/silver dragon wings on the back, darker blue jeans with a tear on the right knee, black shoes with black and silver laces, and sometimes either orange goggles or a black half skull mask.

Xen's secondary outfit has layered shirts. The undershirt is a long sleeve black shirt, with the overshirt being a grey shirt that has some sort of skull decoration on the front. He still wears jeans, and his usual shoes.

Generally, things that are black or grey, with a skull, bone, or dragon motif, are seen as acceptable within Xen's style. Secondary or hightlight colors being purple, or red and blue together.

Personality

Hi! I'm Xen!

Xen is generally upbeat and friendly when he's well fed. He's happy to make new friends and be around others, unless someone else is there to convince him otherwise. His speech tends to be a bit broken, losing a good amount of his more varied vocabulary with the head injury and subsequent amnesia. He often forgets names and will make up nicknames for reoccuring people, which he remembers better. He's very easy to hype up and/or distract if you talk to him like an excitable puppy. You will have to use simpler terms, or words he already knows for him to understand what you're asking/saying.

Hunger - When Xen is hungry, almost nothing else matters but eating. The level of hunger affects how willing he is to turn against his friends to consume them. He'll even turn against his best friend and brother if he gets hungry enough. It is imperative that he is well fed when handling him directly.

Whispers - Due to a voice in his head speaking to him at a gentle whisper to guide him, he's easily fooled with speaking softly. If one can whisper to him, without being directly seen, he will assume that this whisper is just that same voice in his head. He is more inclined to follow the orders of this voice, and any whispering that he hears.

Goggles - Xen has/had a pair of goggles that he'd wear. When he did, the goggles would press on the back of his head at a certain point that he'd experience a general sense of joy and energy, regardless of the social context. This version of Xen was considerably more hyperactive, and less violent. Silly mode active.

Mask - Xen also has a mask. Similar to the goggles, the pressure on the back of his head affects the way he interacts with the world. The angle of the mask's elastic causes Xen to act more seriously. He does not kill for food, but he does kill strangers for the sake of it. This headspace makes it harder to reason with him, as he generally has a distaste for anyone else in general.

Violins -When Xen hears the sound of a violin being played, he stops everything else and heads toward the sound. He will just sit and listen until the music stops or he can no longer hear it.

Memory bleeds - All versions of Twisted Xen share memories. Due to the amnesia, it's difficult for those shared memories to do anything. Once in a while, one or two do float back to his mind. This doesn't do much other than give him momentary insight into situations he's faced in alternative timelines/universes. From the outside, it just looks like he's making things up, or is delusional.

Awareness -Occassionally, Xen will get moments of clarity. He won't remember everything, but he will recall his condition and be unsettlingly lucid. During these times, his speech is no longer mutters or outburst, rather, clear and well spoken, using full sentences and proper grammar. Typically, this level of awareness is quickly followed by anger or depression for his situation. He knows that someone he's close to is involved, and he knows that he'll only forget again. He's stuck. He knows he's tried to escape this, and has failed before.

Abilities

Healing

Xenlusan can heal from most injuries quickly. The more he needs to heal, the hungrier he gets. The more well-fed he is, the faster he heals. Xen also resorts to autocannibalism to heal injuries closer to his core if he doesn't have the food he needs. He typically eats his own tail. Xen must feed on meat and/or blood in order to help trigger his healing. Plant-based foods don't seem to make a difference.

Headshots - Injuries to the head heal just fine. However, even a normal strike to the back of the head will cause Xen to forget his more recent memories. There is a perpetual hole in the back of his head that never heals. Brain destruction like that caused from bullets doesn't worsen this amnesia either.

Wings - While it seems Xen's wings heal just fine, Xen seems to treat the point of connection to his back with great care, as if they don't. Holding the wings at the base causes him to freeze up.

Insta-kills - Any physical damage to the heart will immediately cause Xen to die. When he does die, after about a day, whatever's left of his heart will becomes a dragon egg, and the rest of his body left out will disappear. Decapitation inflicted with direct contact (no tools or weapons used) will also kill Xen. His skull will remain, never to decay or break down of its own accord.

Heightened Senses

Xen is Vampire Dragon. In his human form, he's comparable to a vampire. He has a higher senses overall. He has the tendency to use his keen sense of smell to find things at greater distances.

Dragon Form

Xenlusan can shift into a dragon at will, but doesn't do so often. Instead, he shifts parts of his body as he deems necessary. The knife he carries and uses is his tail-blade. Xen's dragon form is basically fireproof, and has a greater defense against cutting and piercing. His fangs, claws, and tail-blade become sharper when he's well fed, and dull when he goes hungry for longer periods of time.

Shapeshifter

Xen has an ability unique to him among his kind, in that, he can alter the appearance of his human form. He can shapeshift only the aspects that remain in a human shape. As stated previously, the patch of scales around his left eye tends to stay there, even when he changes the rest of his human look. He needs to concentrate in order to hold an unfamiliar form, so simple destractions will cause it to slip.

Limited Telepathy

Xenlusan has a telepathic link with Nasuln. She can see what he does, and whisper to him.

Memory Bleed

All iterations of Twisted Xenlusan are canon. They all exist at once from Xen's perspective. He has issues accessing his memories, and sometimes, he gets memories from the wrong timeline/universe. As more elements reoccur, he remembers them better. This is how he would remember people like Slug Feet, or Plastic Face (Masky), even if it's his first time meeting them in a specific iteration.

Rebirth?

When Xen is killed via damage to his heart, his soul lingers around. The egg that forms from his heart has the potential to be reborn as him if specific conditions are met. These conditions are 1) The egg must be bloodied, and 2) it must be named "Dex". If these conditions are not met, Xen's soul moves on, and the egg is hatched as its own entity.

Backstory

Egg and Hatching

The egg born to the dragon and the vampire was cold. The dragon mother had died in childbirth/egg laying. So, the father took the egg, and began to slaughter as many people and creatures as he could, using their souls to bring the egg back to life. His soul was the last to be added before the egg was warmed.

Those of great spiritual power sensed the greatness in the egg. Whatever came of it would be dangerous, so they tossed it into a chasm, sending it to another world.

The egg landed in a world of other dragons, so when the egg did hatch, the child adapted to this world. It wasn't perfect, but it was passable.

Early Life

Life kinda sucked, and the orphan dragon was a runt. However, he was eventually picked up by Winter and raised further. Eventually, the child was given the name Dex. He further developed, becoming Xenlusan later on.

The Hero and the Villain

One day, Dex was testing out his new powers, and accidentally fell into The Silver World. He caused a problem, and, in trying to fix it, he got tangled up in that world's plot. Xen became a hero in that world due to his greater magic power as compared to the rest of that world. He tried to be the best hero he could, however, by his very nature, he was still a carnivore. Trying to separate himself from what he was caused a mental split. This split was greatly exacerbated by the magic of The Silver World, and created Dark Xen. It is at some point in Xen's life within The Silver World that he is transported to a world of monsters.

Creepypasta Origins

The Summoning - An amateur witch was trying to summon a demon. In performing the ceremony wrong, she accidentally brought Xen and Dezayne into her world. The pair of them promptly killed her and her parents, eating them. However, there was one person of that household they did not kill: Nadir. Nadir had been bullied by his sister and never helped by his parents, so he was very pleased to find all of them were gone. Xen saved him from a demon, and gifted him a stone that was apparently lodged into the back of his head. Nadir helped Xen and Dezayne find their footing in this new world. The pair of them continued to travel, eating entire households when they got hungry. They always spared the children. It was a cardinal rule among dragons that anyone younger than 15 human years was to be left alive, so that they could grow properly. Anyone older than that, however, was fair game.

The Demon - After some time wandering and slaughtering, the pair of dragons caught the attention of a demon, Drew. Drew pulled the pair of them out of the towns and into the woods. Drew had fun manipulating others, and wanted to play a sort of game about it, but he needed more people. Drew would threaten Xen in order to keep Dezayne in line. The game Drew wanted to play, was to collect eager souls towards them, by pretending to be others suspected to be in the woods. This all eventually comes to an end when the grown children that Xen and Dezayne spared tried attacking and banishing Xen and Dezayne. Their attempt resulted in Drew being captured and sent away. The broken mirror is still in the cave, left untouched by all.

The Facility - AQEL is an organization comparable to the SCP Foundation. They study strange phenomena, which includes Xen. Usually, Nasuln helps Xen break free from AQEL's grasp. As a result, AQEL has adopted the Catch and Release style of study with Xen. They expect his escape after each capture. This is generally an ongoing thing through most iterations.

The Static Man - After being in the woods for long enough, it was only a matter of time before Xen and Dezayne came across The Slenderman, and his proxies. Xen is strong, and easy to manipulate. However, Dezayne has a strong will, and is not keen on sharing Xen with another puppeteer. After some... discussion... Dezayne and Slender come to an agreement. Xen will help the proxies with whatever task they need, and is not allowed to kill them. In return, The Slenderman will not mark Xen as a proxy. Slen and Dezayne stay out of each other's business.

Extras and nonsense

At a point, Xen was split, multiple times. These become the other variants: Skxen, Sen, and K-Xen. Their backstories don't pertain to Twisted Xen anymore, but they still exist nonetheless. [Only Sen was added to the count for the OC doc]

Uses/Arcs

Cameos and Minor Roles

If you're making a horror/creepypasta project and would like some background characters, you're more than welcome to add in Xenlusan's Twisted variant.

Mid Roles

Xen's easiest uses are probably as a sort of obstacle or a place of uncertain exposition. As a dragon, he makes a great physical obstacle that cannot be easily beaten with brute strength. You'd either have to distract him, or find that his weak points are his wings (he doesn't want them to tear) and heart (insta-kill). Xen's near-incoherent mutterings about various noticings and timeline overlaps are a good spot to put forshadowing that any characters who don't understand him won't catch immediately.

Main Character

When I use Xen as a main character, he generally has arcs of deep trust with the proper friends he has (Nex and Nate), self acceptance with his conditions, and perserverance through it all. He is the main character in my comic, so you can see how I write him as it updates (infrequently).

Relationships

Super Close Characters

Slug Feet - Nate is Xen's closest and most trusted friend. The pair of them met in the woods, after the whole Drew thing. Each of them were looking for something, and simply promised each other to help find them. Nate is looking for his friend Natasha, while Xen is looking for his memories. Xen and Nate are nearly inseperable at this point, encountering each other across so many iterations that Xen has picked up the habit of just naturally talking to insects like Nate can hear him. Nate is typically seen as Xen's caretaker/handler, while Xen is Nate's protector. They pull off the Smart Guy Big Guy duo dynamic.

Brother - Dezayne is Xen's brother. He is also a dragon, and has his own set of abilities. Despite Xen's implicit trust in Dezayne, it's clear to any outsider that Dezayne is keeping Xen in the dark about a bunch of things. He doesn't like Xen getting close to outsiders, even killing or having Xen kill friends that he'd made. While this happens less frequently, Dezayne still makes sure that Xen doesn't remember his past. It's only when Xen is aware of his issues that he becomes suspicious of Dezayne.

Nasuln - Nasuln is the voice in his head. In transferring into this realm, Xen's head injury he'd sustained just seconds before, became permanent. Xen had gifted the rock that caused the injury to Nadir, who then made the rock the "heart" of Nasuln. Nasuln is linked to Xen. She holds the missing memories within that rock, and sees no reason to give it back. Despite her background reasons to hate Xen, she was also created for the purpose of helping him, so she does. After all, she can't collect orphans into her cult if Xen stops making orphans for her to collect.

"Canon" Creepypastas and such

Plastic Face - Xen calls Masky and Tim "Plastic Face". He does not have a different nickname for Tim or any other alters. Iterations of Masky that Xen mostly interacts with is Rodger. Rodger tends to be more violent with Xen, but Xen doesn't see this as a problem, due to his healing ability, and that Rodger is generally violent with absolutely everyone. Xen has a general trust for Plastic Face, even when the versions aren't the same.

Fabric Face - Xen calls Brian "Fabric Face". There aren't as much direct interactions between Xen and Brian, but when they do have some interactions Brain tends to be a little reminded of Tim, in that Xen has memory issues and seems to be lost a lot.

Plastic Eyes - Xen calls Toby "Plastic Eyes". It used to be a different nickname, but I've since forgotten it. Xen and Toby are great ADHD chaos gremlins together. After a couple of forest fires, the pair are not allowed to hang out together without supervision.

Scrap Eater - Xen calls Eyeless Jack "Scrap Eater". Xen trusts Jack mostly out of habit. Jack and Nate tend to be friends, and Jack helps the other proxies. Across many iterations, however, Jack does use Xen as an easy meal and organ donor. Xen still feels pain, so it hurts still. At least Jack always shares his snacks after the fact.

The Static Man - The Static Man continues to exist. Brother says to stay away. He knows what it is, but also doesn't.

HABIT - Brother says bad habits should be avoided. This is all he consistently remembers.

Other OCs

Creed's crew - OOC, Creed's group was meant to replace Slenderman and the proxies, so his team is made up of thinnly veiled copies of the main creeps that I use. So he has the same nicknames for them as he does for the creeps that they're copies of. Nigel is still referred to as "Fabric Face" and so on and so forth.

Smells like Starving - George was part of a scheme by Bezel (seen in one of the art pieces "Devour"). Bezel turns up Xen's hunger, and Xen eats George in that iteration. This seems to have been pretty traumatic, as Xen still remembers this one iteration strongly enough that he still reacts negatively when he gets close to George.

Ribbon Heart and Chain Heart - Xen has come across these two just enough that he's barely starting to remember them, but not enough to have much more specific memories about them.

4th Category

Nex - Nex is a friend's OC that also has memories across different iterations. He and Xen have a closer connection and trust due to this shared trait.

OOC information

  • Xenlusan comes from the morphemes Xen, lun, sang. So Xenlusan's name technically means "Strange Moon Blood".
  • I designed Xen in about 6th grade, so, when I was roughly 11 years old. This was his Light Xen/Bale's Xen variant though.
  • The intent of making Xenlusan a creepypasta/horror variant was an attempt in 2015-16 to not make more OCs, so I was reusing OCs that I already had.... very clearly that idea didn't stick.
